Ps Robert Morris (Guest Speaker)
God Created us to Believe Him
God created us for a purpose, and this purpose is to believe in Him. As believers, sometimes we also live in unbelieve, it’s not that we don’t believe in God, but we don’t believe things will work out in our situations. Bu God’s faithfulness is not based on our believe.
God Created us to Believe Him First
In the Garden of Eden, God was giving Adam a warning, He didn’t want Adam to die and therefore He warmed him about the fruits of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Every parent wants their children to believe them. Faith is the best teacher, as parents, we don’t want our children to learn by experiences of failures but to listen to our warning. God wants us to believe in Him first.
Then the Lord said to Moses: “How long will these people reject Me? And how long will they not believe Me, with all the signs which I have performed among them?” (Numbers 14:11)
Yet, for all that, you did not believe the Lord your God. (Deuteronomy 1:32)
Likewise, when the Lord sent you from Kadesh Barnea, saying, ‘Go up and possess the land which I have given you,’ then you rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God, and you did not believe Him nor obey His voice. (Deuteronomy 9:23)
So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.” (II Chronicles 20:20)
If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? (John 3:12)
The reason we don’t listen because we don’t believe, and God wants us to believe Him.
God Created us to Believe Him Last
But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:31)
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, [a]and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. (I John 5:13)
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Everything is grace so why do we need to continue to believe? We believe to have eternal life and we continue to believe for abundant life. There are believers who have not experienced the abundant life. Do we believe God will believe us in our finance, our family, our ministry, our health…? Do we believe that if we do the right thing, God will bless us in this area, such as our finance and marriage?
There were two voices in the Garden of Eden, God’s voice, and the devil’s voice, which said the opposite. God created us to believe in Him first, to continue to believe in Him and to believe Him in the end. What do we choose to believe? We must proclaim it everyday that we choose to believe in Jesus and what He did for us.
