Building a Blessed Family

Sunday, 11 December 2022

Ps Philip Mantofa (Guest Speaker)

Colossians 3:18-21 says, “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.”

1. Make Christ the Head and Centre of the Family

We must put God first if we want to build a family. If there’s anything else that comes before God then we cannot really receive the blessings from God. God does not want us to hate our family, but for us to love Him more than our love for our family. When we please God first, then our children and our spouse will also please God and please us. Fear God is more important than everything else. We must live in the truth in God and know our priorities in life. Everyone and everything we love is from God.

We can be living witness of God. When we win over from Satan’s schemes, we can also win our family over. We just need to be patient. By living in our house, we become living testimony for God, and we can move the household closer and closer to God. We might not be the head of the house, but we are all parts of a body and we are all equally important. It’s never too late to turn because in Christ we are all new Creations.

2. Love Each Member According to their Love Language

When we love someone we will try our best to speak their language. On the other hand, if everyone insist on their own love language, then their family member will not be able to understand them or feel their love…  in a family, there are a lot of misunderstandings caused by family member using the wrong love language. Even children speak their language. Parents should support their children, By showing them support with their love language, children will feel the love and learn to love back.
