Rev Daniel Poon

What is the meaning of Easter for us? A day off from work? School holiday? The Easter big sale?

Today is the special Easter Sunday, and Rev Daniel shared with us II Corinthians 4:10-11, “We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.  For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body.”

As Christians, we received the new life of Jesus within us, a lifetime treasure, but do we see it? Easter is all about the love of God for us. He sends His only Son to come to this world and die for us. Jesus died and gave us a new life, and now, He is asking us to bring this new life to others. Too often, we will get beaten up by negative thoughts, bad memories, or failures in the past, but Jesus saved us again and again. He is risen, and if God is for us, who can be against us?

II Timothy 3:1-4 talks about all the bad things possessed within us. We are living in this world full of wickedness and selfishness, but Jesus showed us how to live against this world – with His unconditional love.

Jesus never seeks His own comfort, instead He always thinks about others. Rev Daniel challenged us today to ask ourselves, “what are we living for?” Our desires? Our dreams? Or can we live like Jesus, following the Father’s Will, and bring new lives to others?
