Fill Me with the Holy Spirit

Sunday, 31st May 2020

Pastor Donald Yang

Teaching about the Holy Spirit can be misleading.

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Mathew 7:11)

“And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18)

When we are drunk, we are out of control; when we are under the control of the Holy Spirit, we know we where we are going. On the other hand, if we are not under the control of the Holy Spirit we are out of control. “No gas, no go”, if we are not filled with the Holy Spirit, it will be impossible for us to live out the Christian life. We are already built in with the best engine, we just need the gas!

Pastor Donald shared some facts about the Holy Spirit:

  1. He is a Person/God
  2. He is a Divine Person/God
  3. He is a Person/God we cannot see with out eyes
  4. He dwells within us
  5. He is a prayer Person/God
  6. He is a loving Person/God
  7. His primary function for us is to know Christ

Holy Spirit takes what God says, makes it known to us, He wants to fill in every Christian, it’s God’s command, not a suggestion, for us to be filed by the Holy Spirit.

When we run out of gas, we need to fill up. In the same way, we need to be filled by the Holy Spirit, to take back the ground from the evil one. Unforgiveness is an open door that allows evil to come in. When enemy comes in, it startsto build a fortress in us, which is the stronghold.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” (II Corinthians 10:4-5)

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)

Strongholds will form within us when we hear and believe from the enemy. Jesus wants us to take the authority in His Name. And here are what we should do:

  1. Submit ourselves to God – repent
  2. Confess our sins
  3. Put on the Armour of God
  4. Declare to reject devil
  5. Be filled by the Holy Spirit
