God Is There In The Difficulties

Sunday, 3rd April 2022

Rev Daniel Xi An Poon

Isaiah 61: 1-2a says, ‘The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.’

To Have the Mark of God

This is the first time in the Bible mentioning about anointing is when Moses anointed Aaron to be the High Priest. To be anointed means to be set apart from this world and to have the anointing of God. God not only wants to give us an identity, He also wants to give us anointing, so we can represent Him, with His Mark in our lives and be sent out to preach Good News to those in need.

To Have the Authority of God

Secondly, God wants to give us authority, to heal the brokenhearted. In difficult times, especially during the pandemic, a lot of people are afraid. They lost joy, faith, and peace; a lot of people cannot sleep at night, a lot of people try to work harder for their living, but God’s Will is for us to be set free. We are the people with the mark of God, therefore it means that we can proclaim by faith, even before our problems are solved! When Jesus was in the wilderness, He used the Word of God to overcome temptations. Therefore, we know the Word of God is powerful, and we should proclaim by faith even before we find the solution of our difficulties.

When we know that we have the mark of God and the authority of God, then we must fish for people. Everyday we must find opportunities to fight a goof fight for God, to stand in the gap and intercede for others. Let us learn to set ourselves apart from this world, walk out from our comfort zone and proclaim the Good News!
