God’s Promises

Sunday, 28 June 2015

Rev. Daniel Poon

“But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.” (Malachi 4:2)

We are chosen by God and appointed for a purpose. God’s given us promises but we need to find out what they are. Revere God means to feel deeply respect or to have admiration for God. We should recognise God and revere Him.

He is our Heavenly Father and this is something we can’t change. We can’t change our identities as children of God. The world deceives us every day but we can find truth in God. It says in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” We should first seek Him, and He will give us all that we need. John 14:21 also says, “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” God is willing to look after us, but it’s our choice to choose to stand on His side.

We are never satisfied, and slowly we become slaves to this world, but Jesus came to set us free. We already have all we need and it’s our job to find the blessings in whatever we do. It’s time to be willing and be humble so that we can see God’s blessings in our lives.

God’s Promise 1 – the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays

God will heal us and He wants us to be healthy. He also wants us to shine in this world for Him. We all have excuse for us not to grow but by love, we can overcome this world through God.

God’s Promise 2 – you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves

We can use the freedom to say ‘no’ to the things we don’t desire. The freedom is there, but it’s up to us to use it the right way. In Isaiah 40:31, God knows we are worrying too much, He knows our life situations and He is able to help us. He wants us to renew strength like eagles.
