Rev. Daniel Poon
” Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” – Proverbs 4:23
This morning Rev. Daniel discussed with us the importance of guarding our heart. But what is our heart? He pointed out that the Biblical meaning of heart “is the inner aspect of a man, made of following three parts all together, with the primary part”:
1) Mental Process, which is the major part (where action & reaction take place), which is to lead a person in their life.
2) Emotions (which only process as reaction), as icing to enrich our lives.
3) Will, the seat of the will (discretionary, volitional, decision-making) where decisions are made between the rational and the emotive.
Therefore, it is important to us to act or react from our heart not our mind, as everything flows from the heart.
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. ” – Psalm 28:7
Rev. Daniel also used Psalm 28:7 to conclude his message. He assured us that knowing God is our strength and shield, and encouraged us to live out a life that brings out our inner man rather than merely the knowledge, as this kind of life will become alive.
“If God is for us, who can stand against us!”
