Rev. Dr. Daniel Xi An Poon
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. (Matthew 21:21)
Every time when we open the Bible, we must ask Jesus why He talked such things to His disciples? Because we are also His disciples, therefore we need to know what Jesus wanted to tell us. Jesus was about to be crucified and resurrected, He knew how His disciples will feel and what they will be facing, therefore He tried to prepare them for the things yet to come.
Every day we will be challenged, there will be difficulties ahead of us. Rev Daniel shared with us how we can face difficulties with God’s way.
1. To Believe God’s Reigns
“The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever.” (Psalm 29:10)
Firstly we must believe that everything is in God’s hands. When we know God rules and reigns we will not longer worry and we will be able to sleep well at night. When King David was facing the challenges of Saul, he wrote this Psalm, because he knew his life was in God’s hands. Therefore no matter what we are facing right now, have face, do not doubt, and God will be able to deliver us and help us through the difficult times.
2. To Be A Prayer Warrior
He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20) A Christian without prayers is like a soldier going to the battle without any weapon. We pray to God to seek God’s guidance. Sometimes we need to pray continuously before we get the answer from Him, not because He may forget about our prayer, but because we want to show God our determination and perseverance. Just as a warrior’s goal is to win the battle, we should not stop praying until we see the thing happen. When we read the Bible, we need to ask Jesus questions, and you will get the answer from Him, and blessing will come.
3. To Love Like Jesus
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:29)
Jesus asked us to learn from Him, then we will find rest. How many times we make mistakes because we forget about God’s teaching and worry too much. We can’t find true rest from this world, but when we learn from Jesus and love like Him, then our heart and soul will find rest. When we are in a true rest, we will remember what the Bible has talked about, which will help us face whatever difficulty we are in.
