Section One V1-11 Grow by Faith
V1 ‘Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ.’ This is one of the last letters Apostle Peter write before he passed away. He knew the importance of gathering treasures in Heaven, not in this world. Even the inheritance we give to our descendants are from God, if our children and descendants don’t follow the path of God, then all the treasures will not last.
V5-7 ‘But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.’ We must spend more time in the Word of God and the Missions from God for us. Whatever we do and whatever we say must be from God and represent God. Our behaviour and our action show our attitude toward God and for people. Even little gestures and habits will influence how people see us and affect how we are represented in front of others.
Learn to let go of little things, in our lifestyle, what we eat, what we drink, what we wear… focus more on God and don’t let the luxurious life of the world distracts us from following God. Are we willing to let go of the things we desire and simply give thanks to God for everything we have? We must let the Word of God come into our lives, to live out our faith, not just to believe but to act out. Our lives will not change straight away, but by living in the Word of God, slowly we will experience the changes in our lives.
V8-9 ‘For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is short-sighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.’ We don’t want to walk out and preach the Gospel because we are scared of being rejected. But when we really rely on God, we will know that when people reject us, it’s not our problem, but if we are lazy and do not do the work of God, then it becomes our problem. We are blind because we don’t see our own problems but the problems of others.
V10-11 ‘Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.’ We must be willing to be diligent. It’s not easy to continue to live diligently and therefore it’s important we have the Body of Christ run this race with us together. Christians cannot live alone, when we fellowship with one another, we can also support and encourage one another. What we long for should be the everlasting kingdom, not the things of this world.

Are we willing to be planted by the Word of God and to plant seeds diligently for God?
Section Three V16-21 Witness the Way of God
Whatever we say must be from the Word of God, not by our own mouth. That’s why it’s so important to share testimonies and share the low points of our lives. Because when we see the low points of our lives then we can see how God takes us out of darkness into the light. We are living out the testimonies of God every day and we should have new stories to tell every day! When we can see how God leads us out of troubles every day, then we will be able to testify for Him every day. We must witness for God, be a treasure-seeker and find wonderful things happening in our lives all the time!

彼得书信时代的基督徒们面临着被罗马政府逼迫、教会内部也有异端等偏离真理的挑战。在经历黑暗、教会内忧外患的时候，蒙召的人应该怎样行？我们现在也是面临大环境的挑战，比如为了对付疫情，教会没有实体聚会，我们在线上聚会时就只是像追剧一样看着小屏幕，逐渐失去对神的敬畏。我们对神的态度越来越不认真，对教会的认知和向心力也模糊，无法专一委身在神放我们所在的教会。我们要恢复实体聚会，从安逸的环境中起来，这个转变是不容易的，所以本章经文帮助我们行出蒙召的人所信的真道。
一、v.1-11 因信而成长
V1 彼得在一开始就清楚陈明自己的“仆人”身份，说明在高位的人是神的仆人，为人服事的，让别人在自己身上看见神，也能聆听权柄的话。彼得同时也是使徒，就是一个带领者。我们要牢记自己的身份，不仅是神的仆人，也是可以带人的领袖。我们每一个被呼召的人都要有信心。
V2 无论面对什么样的光景、挑战，我们要记得神给我们的是恩惠、平安。这份恩惠、平安就好像一个百宝箱（treasure box）在我们里面，要启动它，就要“认识神和我们主耶稣”，这是从神的话语来的。当我们每一天去看神的话语，恩惠平安就多多地加给我们，让我们在得时不得时都可以度过。
V3 这“一切关乎生命和虔敬的事”都已经借着圣经赐给我们，所以我们若没有读经祷告，手上就没有圣灵的宝剑，就是软弱无力的。我们要求神将隐秘的事为我们打开（申命记 29:29），让我们和我们的子孙都得到这份恩惠平安。
V4 神已经将“又宝贵又极大的应许赐给我们”，但我们若将自己的精神、思想放在世界上的享受以满足自己的欲望、谋算，我们就会慢慢离开神。我们的生命次序在哪里？基督徒并非离群索居，是进入世界但也要活出世界。圣经里提到的约瑟、但以理等敬虔的人在外邦也能一人之下万人之上。我们的思想意念不是去谋算要赚多少、得什么，而是相信神会给我们需要的。神在创世时已经给我们能“治理”的能力，我们是否愿意放下自己的小聪明而等候神，是否愿意先神后人再大地？当我们的眼目都放在世界时，我们有时间去玩乐却没有时间读经祷告，看所有的事情都变成我们的压力，所以要摆对我们时间的次序。世上的情欲一直在跟我们拉扯，使我们无法得到神的恩惠平安，而我们就只能一直在做事，无法停下来，像在埃及为奴为仆的以色列人一样。我们信主，就有神在带领我们，就不再是靠自己拼搏。我们一生努力，是为了什么呢？我们可以将神给我们的物质祝福给孩子，但这个世界上的东西永远没有办法满足孩子们内心的空虚。我们能给他们最好的就是我们的神 – 唯有对神真实的信仰能让他们不迷失在情欲的世界，亲自领受从神而来的祝福才是属于他们的。
V5-7 我们要更多花时间在神的话语和神给我们的使命上。“德行”是我们行出的事，我们做基督徒不要坐在一旁翘着腿抖脚，要从小事上改变不好的习惯。“知识”就是懂得敬畏神。“节制”就是在知道真理后能行出来，且能克制己身、叫身服我。当我们无法控制自己的时候，要扪心自问，我们与神的关系如何，我们对世界上的事是否太过执着？当我们愿意放手的时候，我们会变得越来越随和，才能节制自己。不要什么都想要自己觉得“好”的，而是有了就感恩。我们是否愿意脱离世上的情欲而靠近神？我们要让神的话进入我们里面，不只是表面“相信”，还要力行圣经的教导，如此才能有节制。“忍耐”- 我们的改变了，是否能一直忍耐？我们的生命不是一下子改变的，是从我们愿意委身在神的话语里开始，让神的话语帮助我们行出来，并且在性情、脾气上也有改变，不再毫无节制，而是活出不一样的生命。当我们自己不一样的时候，就要爱主内的弟兄姐妹，也要爱外面的“众人”，而不是只停留在教会里却不知道如何与不信主的人沟通。我们的敬虔是我们的being, 不是在规条下压制。
V8 我们没有果子 – 就是没有门徒，因为我们闲懒，不愿意改变自己，觉得跟从神很累，呆在自己的舒适圈就很容易、不会因为被人拒绝而难受。但当我们倚靠神的时候，被人拒绝就祷告神，不会将问题扛在自己身上，而是让神来动工。
V9 “眼瞎”的人只看到别人的问题，没有看到自己是没有殷勤、没有结果子的人。我们要时常反省自己，不要再用“旧日的罪”为自己跌倒当借口 – 我们的旧人已经因着我们信主而死了，我们是新生的婴孩，所以不要再拖着“死尸”而行。
V10 我们愿意殷勤吗？我们一个人是不容易做到的，所以要在一个团体中互相打气，有伙伴与我们一起跑，我们就不孤单。
V11 我们在这里要等待的是“永远的国”。
二、v12-15 忠心的栽培
我们要愿意不断被更正、教导，也要能这样忠心去栽培别人。
三、v.16-21 见证主道
V16 我们所讲的东西不是随口说的，而是从神的话语而来。“亲眼”- 我们要讲自己的见证，在见证中要摸自己的“低点”，在低点之处看到神怎样将我们从黑暗带到光明中。我们若知道自己是罪人，时常省察到自己的问题，就不会停留在多年前的同一个见证。让我们成为一个寻宝的人，每一天都能在自己软弱跌倒的地方看到神的帮助。
一个蒙召的人的生命要扎根在圣经上，不要被人的教导误导，而是成为真正敬虔的人，让神帮助我们出黑暗入光明，成为多结果子的葡萄树！
