Section One V1- 8 God Will Prepare

People of the world seek to develop and strengthen their talents, skills, and knowledge, so they can do great things and prove themselves. But when we see the life of Jesus, He had been preparing Himself for 30 years, but He only served 3 years.  He is humble and gentle, He never tries to prove Himself, instead, He was willing to wait upon God’s timing and do only what God want Him to do. We are the ones being called by God, every day we face this world, which is going to an end, what is our attitude? Do we try to prove ourselves and do things according to our own desires? When we face challenges, do we feel like giving up or starting again?

V1-2 ‘Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule with justice. A man will be as a hiding place from the wind, and a cover from the tempest, as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.’ We are the princes and princesses of the Kingdom of God, we have been given so many resources and opportunities, but are we using them wisely? Where do we put out hope? In the richness of the world or in God? When the world is fading away, there will be a king, who can protect us and watch over us. But are we willing to follow and trust in Him?

V3-4 ‘The eyes of those who see will not be dim, and the ears of those who hear will listen. Also, the heart of the rash will understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.’ We can make decisions in a rush, to respond quickly without praying and seeking counsel from God. God is reminding the people of Judah, to be careful to speak, and to not act in a rush. Moses was in rage and killed an Egyptian by accident, but despite of his action, God still used him because he was willing to humble himself and submit to God. We must know that God is watching over us and He is guiding us. Do not be the foolish people but see God’s works in our lives and surrounding us.

V5-6 ‘The foolish person will no longer be called generous, nor the miser said to be bountiful; for the foolish person will speak foolishness, and his heart will work iniquity: to practice ungodliness, to utter error against the Lord, to keep the hungry unsatisfied, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.’ God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, He is the God of generations. He will never put His children to shame, He has so much in-stored for us, therefore do not focus on the treasures of the world, but to know God is our Abba Father, who we can rely on and trust in. Do not let the foolishness and ungodliness of the worldly values stop us seeing God’s treasures for us and our children.

Section Two V9-14 Men’s Pridefulness

V9-10 ‘Rise up, you women who are at ease, hear my voice; you complacent daughters, give ear to my speech. In a year and some days you will be troubled, you complacent women; for the vintage will fail, the gathering will not come.’ Love and mercy come from God, who is also righteous. When we show people love and mercy, we also need to show God’s righteousness and judgement. When it’s time to discipline and to teach, we must not hesitate to do so. Do not allow ourselves to indulge in a comfort and luxurious life. But be the fruitful vine for the Kingdom of God.

V11 ‘Tremble, you women who are at ease; be troubled, you complacent ones; strip yourselves, make yourselves bare, and gird sackcloth on your waists.’ Do not wait until the troubles come, but to be alert from now on, to seek God’s Will in our lives every day. This message is not only for the women, but also for our church, the bride of Jesus. God has created us with purposes, we must see this purpose in our lives, do not live according to our own will, but live in the principals of the Kingdom of God.

Section Three V15-20 The Promise will Come

V15 ‘Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is counted as a forest.’ The Spirit is the Holy Spirit, God has already prepared King Josiah to save the people of Judah, but they did not believe God’s salvation will come. They only sought their own gains and selfish desires, continue to sin against God and continue to carry out their evil ways. God’s promise will still come no matter what, but are the people ready to receive?

V16 ‘Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.’ Jesus already taught us, the judgement is yet to come, we must repent and return. The righteousness belongs to God, when we are willing to turn back from the proud to the humble, God will call us His beloved and call us back to His stronghold.

V18-19 ‘My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places, though hail comes down on the forest, and the city is brought low in humiliation.’ Stop relying on ourselves because it will only lead to destruction. If we rely on the forest, then the forest will be brought down.

V20 ‘Blessed are you who sow beside all waters, who send out freely the feet of the ox and the donkey.’ On the other hand, if we are willing to live in the flow of God, to be planted by the stream of water, to bear fruits in seasons, and God’s blessings will come to us naturally. Take down our pride, follow the Holy Spirit, and see the promises revealed. God is love, God is willing to bless, God has prepared, and we only need to follow.
