Section One V1-13 God will Prepare

V1 ‘Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.’ God has already told us that He has brought us the Good News, the Gospel, but we are still rebellious. We are afraid of poverty, we are afraid of being abandoned, we are unsatisfied about our lives, and we are worried that God will miss out something. Therefore, we tend to use our own ways and our own approaches, we thought we are ‘helping’ God. But we are actually living in a ‘doing’ mode, and we become slaves to this world.

V2 ‘He will not cry out, nor raise His voice, nor cause His voice to be heard in the street. A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth.’ Jesus has already resurrected; He is compassionate and loving. He sees through our lives, and He wants to help us. but we are still stiff necked, our sinful lives stop us to see God’s preparation for us. It’s never God’s problem, but our problems.

V4 ‘He will not fail nor be discouraged, till He has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands shall wait for His law.’ We don’t like to wait; we want to see things happen then we will believe. God has always been waiting for us, He has been so patient with us. We must learn to be still, when God does not move, then we will not move, but when God starts moving, then we must quickly follow Him and never look back. Do we believe that we are the chosen ones?

V5-7 ‘Thus says God the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk on it: I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, and will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, as a light to the Gentiles, to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the prison, those who sit in darkness from the prison house.’ Do we know who we really are? Do we see God has already prepared for us and given us the authority? Do not look down on the identity and destiny God has given to us. He has appointed us to be the light of the Gentiles, to open the eyes of the blind, and to set the capitative free.

V8-9 ‘I am the Lord, that is My Name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images. Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.’ When we tried to use our own knowledge and our own ways to live on this world, then we will not receive the glory of God. Because we are not living the godly way and we are not giving glory to God in our lives. Are we willing to humble and obedient, to deny ourselves and to benefit others?

V10 ‘Sing to the Lord a new song, and His praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you coastlands and you inhabitants of them!’ When we turn back to God, then we will see the Gentiles singing praises to God and we will receive glory together with Him!

Section Two V14-22 God will Promise

Do we know everything we have is from God? Do we believe that God’s promises will come to pass? V14 ‘I have held My peace a long time, I have been still and restrained Myself. Now I will cry like a woman in labour, I will pant and gasp at once.’ We thought God is not speaking to us, we thought God is staying silent. But we forgot that God has already prepared everything for us, and He will always keep His promises. Do we really have the faith to continue waiting and believing in God’s promises?

V15-16 ‘I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and dry up all their vegetation; I will make the rivers coastlands, and I will dry up the pools. I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, and not forsake them.’ The lives on this world are fragile, we do not know what will happen tomorrow, we do not know what our children’s lives will be like, and as we see all the natural disasters around the world, we do not know what the future holds. So are we still worrying and striving about today’s work? Only God knows about tomorrow, and He has already given us the way our, but do we really see this promise? Do not be the blind, but open our eyes to see God at work!

V22 ‘But this is a people robbed and plundered; all of them are snared in holes, and they are hidden in prison houses; they are for prey, and no one delivers; for plunder, and no one says, “Restore!”’ God never stops His Work, God continues to talk to His people, but when we turn our faces to the world, when we are unwilling to spend time with God, then we will be blinded, we will be lied to by this world, and we cannot see God’s promises.

Section Three V23-25 God is the Answer

V23 ‘Who among you will give ear to this? Who will listen and hear for the time to come?’ We want God but we also want the world. We do not live out a testimony for God and we still indulge in the worldly desires.

V24-25 ‘Who gave Jacob for plunder, and Israel to the robbers? Was it not the Lord, He against whom we have sinned? For they would not walk in His ways, nor were they obedient to His law. Therefore He has poured on him the fury of His anger and the strength of battle; it has set him on fire all around, yet he did not know; and it burned him, yet he did not take it to heart.’ We must have an attentive ear to hear. Stop asking ‘why’, stop being jealous about others, and start being sensitive to the Holy Spirit. God’s blessings are with us, in our work, our family, our health, our finance… but we only see the lacking and we continue to complain. Open our eyes and see, the Holy Spirit is within us, to convicted ourselves of sins, of judgement, and of righteousness. Turn back to God, see the Gospel in our lives, turn our focus to God, because everything is about Him.
