Isaiah 48 – God’s Plan for Us 以赛亚书 48 – 神对我们的计划

Tuesday, 2nd August 2022

Rev Daniel Xi An Poon

Section One V1-11 God Knows Everything

Are we really align with God and align with our authority? Because if we don’t then we cannot receive the flow that’s coming from above. The blessings and anointing are like a flow from above, for us to receive and pass on to others. When we are not aligned, the flow of living water will become like the Dead Sea in our like lives, no living things can live in it.

V1-2 ‘Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and have come forth from the wellsprings of Judah; who swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth or in righteousness; for they call themselves after the holy city, and lean on the God of Israel; the Lord of hosts is His name.’ We tend to blame God for everything, and blame our authority for all the problems we have in our lives. God is giving us a good news, that He has a plan for us. When we don’t know the heart of God and when we don’t know His plan for us, we will be bitter and we will complain.

We thought God does not know us, we thought God does not understand our situation. V3 ‘I have declared the former things from the beginning; they went forth from My mouth, and I caused them to hear it. Suddenly I did them and they came to pass.’ Everything happened in the past is in God’s hands.

V4-5 ‘Because I knew that you were obstinate, and your neck was an iron sinew, and your brow bronze, even from the beginning I have declared it to you; before it came to pass I proclaimed it to you, lest you should say, ‘My idol has done them, and my carved image and my molded image have commanded them.’ God knows the people are stiff necked. We pray and we worship with a hardened heart, we don’t have feelings for God and we are not truthful in front of Him. God knows everything about us, He knows how we are pretending and acting in front of Him. The people craves images and made idols because they were afraid of lacking, they thought by worshipping idols they would no longer be afraid.

We are also the same, we see things more important than God. We worship the world, our work, our family, even our ministry. We are worried about not having enough, we are losing our ‘being’ and indulging in our ‘doing’. When was the last time we hunger and thirst for God’s Word? Our attitude will determine our respond to God’s Word. Everything we received from God is a gift, but is our thanksgiving truthful? We must live a life of freedom, praise and pray in truth and in spirit, let our hearts be genuine, deal with our hearts, so we can be renewed and be righteous before Him.

V6-7 ‘You have heard; see all this. And will you not declare it? I have made you hear new things from this time, even hidden things, and you did not know them. They are created now and not from the beginning; and before this day you have not heard them, lest you should say, ‘Of course I knew them.’’ Can we face our blindness in boldness? We know God’s plan is good for us, then we must admit the low point in our lives. When we see and understand then we must repent and return. He has already revealed it all to us.

V8 ‘Surely you did not hear, surely you did not know; surely from long ago your ear was not opened. For I knew that you would deal very treacherously, and were called a transgressor from the womb.’ God is doing a new thing, so stop thinking about the past mistakes and bad experiences. Stop walking backwards and stop using our own ways to manipulate God’s Way. Today is the day for us to walk out of the cave and to walk out of Egypt.

V9-10 ‘For My name’s sake I will defer My anger, and for My praise I will restrain it from you, so that I do not cut you off. Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.’ God chose us and tested us, there will be hardship but this is to help us to be refined, so all the stubbornness and rebellious nature inside us can be dealt with. Then we can be used by God.

V11 ‘For My own sake, for My own sake, I will do it; for how should My Name be profaned? And I will not give My glory to another.’ God allowed us to experience His Good ness and His Glory. We are not following an idol, we are not worshiping a false god. He is the one true God, but what is our attitude when we worship Him? He knows everything, He knows our hearts.

Section Two V12-16 God Will Make Us Know

V12-13 ‘Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel, My called: I am He, I am the First, I am also the Last. Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth, and My right hand has stretched out the heavens; when I call to them, they stand up together.’ We must listen because He is teaching us and He is calling us. He wants to reveal everything He knows to us.

V14 ‘All of you, assemble yourselves, and hear! Who among them has declared these things? The Lord loves him; He shall do His pleasure on Babylon, and His arm shall be against the Chaldeans.’ God wants us to come together, to be revealed in front of others, to put down our masks, and to allow people to see our weakness so God can be glorified in our lives. He is God Almighty, yet He loves us and calls us His beloved. We want to receive love from this world, but at the end we receive emptiness. Only the love of God can truely fulfill us.

V15-16 ‘I, even I, have spoken; yes, I have called him, I have brought him, and his way will prosper. Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, I was there. And now the Lord God and His Spirit have sent Me.’ God loves us, His teaching is for our benefit. Who can save us and who can lead us to the prosperous way? Only God can help us, we must come near Him. Stop magnifying our problems, and see the magnified God, He is with us in our troubles and He has been comforting us all this time!

Section Three V17-22 To Return to Preach God

V17 ‘Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.’ Do we know that all the teachings from God is for our benefit? It’s for us to come to the right path, let God lead us and let God take over.

V18-19 ‘Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea. Your descendants also would have been like the sand, and the offspring of your body like the grains of sand; his name would not have been cut off nor destroyed from before Me.’ God wants us to fish for people, to be fruitful and abundant. When we listen to the Word of God, to let go of what we hold onto, then God’s blessings for us will be more than what we can imagine.

V20 ‘Go forth from Babylon! Flee from the Chaldeans! With a voice of singing, declare, proclaim this, utter it to the end of the earth; say, “The Lord has redeemed His servant Jacob!”’ Let us go out of Babylon, and flee from the Chaldeans, to be willing to seek God and to destroy the idols we worship. To walk out of slavery and to preach the Good News to all.

V21-22 ‘And they did not thirst when He led them through the deserts; He caused the waters to flow from the rock for them; He also split the rock, and the waters gushed out. There is no peace,” says the Lord, “for the wicked.”’ Do not think thy there is not desert when we follow God, the desert will still be there, but God’s living water is also there. His providence is never ending, but can we see it? Stop complaining and start seeing the wondrous work of God.
