Section One V1-12 Control the Tongue
How can we continue to have faith in God during hardship and challenges? Do not always think about how we can be teachers. We believers in Jesus’s times were persecuted and scattered. They would have lots of complaints, bitterness, anger, etc inside their hearts. When our attitude is not right, then the words we speak will not please God.
Everyone has problems in their life, every day there will be challenges, but the most important thing is about if the words we speak bear good fruits. If our tongues are full of judgement and bitterness, then we know our hearts need healing. We might not admit the sins of our hearts, but we must know will affect our lives and the lives of others.
Do not think what we understand is right, we are easy to fall into the traps of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. If we want to be complete, to live a life please God, then we must not have any fault in our tongues.
The tongue can do many things, do not underestimate it, it creates lies, hatred, things that are unreal… the words coming out from our month can easily trip over others, it can create a world of sins. Hold our tongues, do not let evil be released from our tongues. We can not speak what we feel like speaking, if we don’t be careful we will not realise the damage we will create.
Let our tongues speak only the truth, the words of life, the words of encouragement, the words of blessings. The tongue of a horse can control the whole body of the horse, it’s just like how powerful our tongue is!
God created people to have an intimate relationship with us, therefore our tongues are created to praise God. We must return to the right function of the tongues.

每天我们都会被周围的负面信息、社会的动荡不安潜移默化的影响。当我们里面被影响时，我们就没有办法享受从神对我们的爱和信任而来的平安。这样的环境下，我们如何能对神有爱有信任，如何保守我们的心，结出生命树的果子？
一、v.1-12 要制伏的舌头
V1 “弟兄们”指的是那些流落到耶路撒冷以外、从犹太教转信基督的蒙召的人。雅各对这些蒙召的人说，不要整天想着做别人的老师 – 老师就是用言语教导别人的人，“因为晓得我们要受更重的判断”。当时的时局十分不安，基督徒们同时面对罗马政府和犹太教的压制和逼迫，这些蒙召的人里面有很多不满、不公平、苦毒。当我们的心态是这样的时候，我们教导出来的东西就反而不好了。
V2 我们在生命上都有问题，但最重要的是“在话语上没有过失”。我们里面其实充满苦毒、伤害，但我们不愿意承认，反而用我们的舌头、话语去批评论断。我们可以从一个人的话语中知道那个人的生命，比如有人若很喜欢讲为别人打抱不平的话，其实是因为他们里面有伤害没有处理，将自己的情况投射到别人的身上。当我们以为自己很好或者以为自己的想法是对的时候，就很容易说出批评论断的话，这时的我们就走进分辨善恶树，无法用和平和爱来面对人和我们自己。“完全”指的是神看为好的，在话语上没有过失的人就是“完全人”。
V4-5 不要小看我们的舌头，它虽小，却可以创造出一些虚无、虚假的东西（“大话”）。我们要小心，不要创造出不在神心意里的东西。
V6 我们要小心运用我们的舌头，因为我们若不小心，我们说出的话语就会绊倒别人，所以不要放纵我们的任性。罪是让我们与神的爱隔绝的。当我们的舌头没有被勒住，释放出没有爱的话语时，我们的舌头就带出“罪恶的世界”。或许人会质疑，“有这么严重吗？为什么我不能这样？”其实这样问的人就是陷入了分辨善恶树的气息里。我们要多读神的话语，让舌头宣告神的话，喂养我们里面的灵人。
V3,7-8 就像嚼环在马嘴里能调动马的全身一样，我们也要制伏自己的舌头，这是神对我们的心意。但我们“没有人能制伏”舌头，它是全天24小时无法停下来的“恶物”。当我们在无意间讲一些抱怨、批评论断的话的时候，我们其实是在散发“害死人的毒气”
V9-10 “不应当的”指的是不对的。当我们知道我们的舌头原来可以这么可怕的时候，就要恢复到神原本创造我们的心意。神创造人的心意就是希望我们与他有关系，我们的舌头被造就是来与神交通、赞美、敬拜神。当我们回到神创造的本意时，我们就能勒住我们的舌头。当我们里面有小剧场、没有平安时，更要来赞美神。我们要谦卑使用我们的舌头，不要自以为是的做人的“老师”去批评论断。
二、v.13-18 从上头来的智慧
V13 智慧是敬畏耶和华。我们愿意敬畏神、谦卑、成为多结果子的葡萄树吗？当我们知道智慧是什么，就更加要尽心尽意爱神，也要爱人如己。
V14 当我们知道要敬畏神，心里却没有爱人如己，反而“怀着苦毒的嫉妒和纷争”，就会有“自夸”，“说谎话”。有时我们可能表面上不说什么，但我们脸上的表情却是不开心，这样就是在“说谎话抵挡真道”，不要神的话进入我们的生命，也是骄傲，不觉得自己需要神。
V15-16 我们是属谁的？ 我们的生命若没有从神而来的爱，就很容易产生纷争。
V17-18 从上而来的智慧是谦卑顺服、舍己利他，带出来的话语是充满和平的，在神眼里是好的。让我们谦卑寻求神，看重神要的生命，不再放纵自己的舌头，而要有从上头来的智慧。
