Lack of Nothing

Sunday, 14th July 2019

Rev Daniel Xi An Poon

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you His holy people, for those who fear Him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their cry; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth. The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.” (Psalm 34:8-17)

In this world, we will all have worries, no matter how much money we earn or how many friends we have, we will never feel enough. This morning Rev Daniel remind us that when we turn our heart back to God, then we will lack nothing as it says in Psalm 34.

  1. FEAR THE LORD
    • Keep your tongue from evil
    • Depart from evil and do good

To fear the Lord is not for us to be scared of God, but on the other hand, to know that He rules and reigns the earth. In order to show our fear in the Lord, Rev Daniel taught us to keep our tongue from evil, which is to stop saying things that hurt us or others. Because our words have power, God created the world with His Words and He created us to be like Him!

Secondly, we should always examine our ways, the things we do and our focus, not to be unpleasant to God. When we are willing to depart from our own evil way and do good as God taught us to, then we are demonstrating our fear in the Lord and He will bless us.

2. THE RIGHTEOUS CRY OUT

In Psalm 34 it says that the young lions lack and suffer hunger, but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good things! God wants to give us the best, and those who are righteous, those who walk in God’s way, and those who cry out to Him, will lack nothing. It’s just like how every parent will seek all their might to provide for their children and fulfil their needs.

God is our Heavenly Father and He loves us more than we can ever imagine! Rev Daniel encouraged us to spend more time with our Heavenly Father everyday, to pray, to taste and see how good He is!
