Genesis 2:1-17, Exodus 20:3
1. God’s Commandments meant life and freedom (Genesis 2:1-17)
In the beginning, God created everything full of life, and He gave Adam the freedom to eat whatever he wanted to eat, apart from the fruits of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. God gave us freedom but our choices determine our life.
Eden was a place full of joy and blessings, and Adam was placed in this place, filled with freedom. This is what God intended for us, He loves us and wants us to enjoy His creation, and in His freedom, we can have life.
2. With true relationship, there is life and freedom (Genesis 2:18-25)
A. Practice life and freedom through true marital relationship (Genesis 2:18-25)
God made a helper for Adam in Genesis 2, Adam could’ve said no to the woman but he chose to accept what God has created for him. However, in Genesis 3, Adam and Eve lost the freedom because they sinned.
B. Practice life and freedom through true relationship with God (Genesis 3, Exodus 20)
God loves us and He rebuilt the relationship with us through Jesus Christ’s salvation. When temptation comes, it’s time to test our relationship with God. Adam and Eve sinned and were cursed, but there’s salvation in the cursed. God is love and Jesus died on the cross and took our curse so we can be free again.
