Section One V1-18 No Servant can Serve Two Masters

The Unjust Steward did something unrighteous but the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. With the position, money, time or resources we have right now, do we have a future eyesight like this steward, which is to invest everything we have wisely in the eternity? How can we, in this limited and short life, invest in the eternity? Everything we do in this life, the resources we use, do we bring the values of eternity? When we are able to do that, then we can adjust our lifestyle, and sow into our eternal life. This is also our attitude towards doing tithing and offering, when we offer, we should think about the values in the eternity, so when we leave this world, the people we give offering and support to will welcome us in the eternity.

We also need to be faithful in small things, and then we can be faithful in greater things. The small things we do might not be recognized by other people, but God sees and knows everything we do. On the other hand, if we cannot be faithful in the things God give to us, then we can trust us in anything they entrust us to do? Our life on the earth reflects what out life will be like in heaven. When we are in the eternity, we will rule and reign along with Jesus. We will be entrusted with a portion in heaven for us to manage, and this will be decided from how we deal with the things and responsibilities we have in this life. We are not just seek to enter into the door of eternity, but to rule and reign alongside Jesus! The Great Commission also tells us to call all people to become disciples of God, not just followers!

We cannot run away from what we have to face in this life, there is only one God we should serve. When we have the attitude of eternity, then we will not focus on the sufferings of the earthly life. We might be able to hide in front of people what we are really thinking, but we cannot hide from God. He treasures our truthfulness in front of Him.

At Jesus’ time, marriages were not being valued by the people. So Jesus taught them to be good stewards in our marriages, to love each other with the heavenly principals. To honor and respect one another.

Section Two V19-31 The Rich Man and Lazarus

Our decisions on this world determine our lives in eternity. Do we choose to become the servant of the Lord or the servant of mammon? Until the day we die we can change our decisions. But when we enter into eternity then we no longer can make this decision. For Lazarus, he seemed to have nothing, he was poor, sick and lonely. But at the end he was brought up to the bosom of Abraham. On the other hand, the rich man had everything in the world, money, friends, enjoyments… but at the end he was suffering in darkness. Our life on this earth is short, but the short suffering in this life can bring the eternal blessings.

We are being tempted everyday, the money we have in our hands, our emotions, things in the environment… every time when we face a challenge, we might think we can no longer move on, but when we adjust our attitude, again and again come before God, learn to align with God and with our authority, then eventually we will bear fruits and produce life testimony for God in front of others. So don’t use the attitude of running away with the challenges we face on this world.

God has already prepared something for each one of us in the eternity, it’s only for us. But right now, He is adjusting our lives and attitude in this world, so we can align with Him. When we rule and reign together with Jesus in the eternity, we can bear this portion He gives us.

Prayer & Pursuit

Lord, we thank You for eternity, thank You for helping us to no longer focus on our current situation and hardship, but to know that everything we do in this life has an eternal value. Lord, in our short life on this world, we are willing to listen to You and cast our nets in the deep waters. Lord, give us this faith and this attitude of following You wholeheartedly. Lord, we are Your beloved children, all the abundance, power, wisdom, talents and gifts we have are from You, give us a new eyesight, a new attitude, and make the right decision. We want to invest everything we have in eternity and be Your good and faithful stewards. Amen.
