At the beginning of the year, everyone will make New Year wishes. But after we make wishes, what do we do? Rev. Daniel shared that when we make a wish, we need to commit to it, to believe it will come true, and start living in it. In 2014, Rev. Daniel made a wish to move to South Auckland, therefore he started calling the real estate agents, and selling his old house. Even though he might have doubts throughout the process, as there are many changes in his life, family, children’s schools, etc. but he persisted to the end, and he bought the house God has promised him, and it’s better than he could ever imagined!
A New Year wish is our direction for 2015. Therefore we need to prepare ourselves, God will not just do everything for us but He wants to have partnership with us. When we do our part to prepare for our wishes to come true, He will do His part. Don’t sit and wait for the wish to drop down from Heaven.
“So keep all the orders which I give you today, so that you may be strong, and go in and take the land which is to be your heritage; and that your days may be long in the land which the Lord gave by an oath to your fathers and to their seed after them, a land flowing with milk and honey. For the land where you are going is not like the land of Egypt from which you have come, where you put in your seeds, watering them with your foot, like a planted garden: But the land where you are going is a land of hills and valleys, drinking in the rain of heaven: A land cared for by the Lord your God: the eyes of the Lord your God are on it at all times from one end of the year to the other.” (Deuteronomy 11:8-12)
In the new year, not only we should live in the new wish, but we should also live in a new life. Are we still letting the undesired old habits staying in our lives? There are many things and ways of living in our past, our family, our origin, our ancestors, ect that still in our lives and stop us going into the new page. We should drop the things that are no longer useful to us, and follow God’s new ways.
1. A Land Of Abundant 豐富之地 (Verse 9)
God knows us and He wants us to prove to the world that we have a loving Father, so everyone can come to Him and enjoy this love.
2. A Land Of Hills And Valleys 有山有谷之地 (Verse 11)
God is a creating God, He gives us hills and valleys and we should enjoy this creation from Him. Often when we see the hills and valleys, we would want to make it flat and build houses. But we might not know God’s plan for us living in the hills and valleys. So don’t complain, but see things from another point of view, use the right attitude to see what God has prepared for us.
3. A Land Of God’s Favour 神眷愛之地 (Verse 12)
We should always know God’s love and His favour is always with us. When the devil trick us, instead of running away, we should proclaim God’s love and believe that He’s on our side.
In 2015, God has prepared a land for us, a land of abundance, of hills and valleys, and of God’s favour. So what shall we fear? What shall we worry? We should keep our wish and live it out because the blessings are on our side!
