Our Struggle

Rev Daniel Poon

Ephesians 6:10-13 (NIV)

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

Everyday we face different challenges, problems, obstacles, and our struggles in life seem never-ending. But today as we read Ephesians 6:10-13, Rev Daniel reminded us that our struggle is actually in the spiritual world.

The good news is, there are ways to win in a spiritual warfare, and as the children of God, we are given the authorities to fight back! Rev Daniel showed us three ways to overcome our struggles in the spiritual world.

1. Watch and Pray (Matthew 26:41) – we should know ourselves more, realize that we are weak but through God we can be strong; pray to God and rely on Him only, then we will see how He can fight for us.

2. Stand Firm in Faith (I Peter 5:9) – we should believe in the eternal God, and don’t listen to what this world tells us; God always has the good intention for us so as long as we hold onto Him, never give up hope, then we can see how God destroy the enemy, who tries to shake our faith through struggles.

3. Seek the Source (I Peter 5:10) – the Bible tells us that suffering only last a little while; God knows our limits and He will not allowed things we cannot handle to happen; so no matter what, we should always seek the source, go back to the origin, focus on the Creator of all things; then He will restore us, make us strong, firm and steadfast.
