Section One V1-8 The Torment of Sin
When we face problems, how can we turn things around? People tend to seek advisors or professionals, but every solution still has its risks. We can never fully rely on the world, and we have to seek the Heavenly way of facing the danger of this world. God knows it all, He knows all the problems we are facing. He does not want us to suffer, because His Will for us is full of peace. We will fall, but we will not completely fall, because God holds us and He looks after us.
V1 ‘O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your wrath, nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure!’ David knew there was a price to pay for the sins he committed, he never wanted to escaped from God’s wrath, but he also knew God is merciful and God would be able to help him out of his misery.
V3-4 ‘There is no soundness in my flesh because of Your anger, nor any health in my bones because of my sin. For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.’ David knew it was his fault, he knew he could not blame on God for his misery. When we have love and trust, everything we experience should be in God’s hands.
Section Two V9-12 The Indifference of Men
V9 ‘Lord, all my desire is before You; and my sighing is not hidden from You.’ God sees through us, we cannot hide before Him. In danger we may face people, who don’t respond to our help, but God will never forsake us. V11 ‘My loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague, and my relatives stand afar off.’ David was in such pain that no one came to his aid, and no one supported him. We may also have experienced what David experienced, when we are in misery, we want people to say something to comfort us, but no one seems to be around to support us.
Section Three V13-22 Only Rely on God
V13-14 ‘But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; and I am like a mute who does not open his mouth. Thus I am like a man who does not hear, and in whose mouth is no response.’ David knew he should not try to fight back by himself. Do we believe God will fight for us? Do we believe that God will prepare a table for us before our enemies? When we only rely on God, have love and trust for Him, then God will make things right for us!
