Rev. Daniel Poon
Today Rev Daniel shared with us about the story of Gideon in Judges 7:1-7. At the beginning there were 32 thousands men following Gideon, but God asked Gideon to send home those who feared, and there were 10 thousands men left. Later on when they arrived the Spring of Harod, God again told Gideon to send more people home, and they ended up with 300 men. Amazingly, with these 300 people. they won the battle by the mighty power of God, and God has surely shown His glory through this impossible mission!
We may face all kinds of challenges and tests each day, and today Rev Daniel shared with us three important points, of how to become the chosen 300 warriors of Gideon, and win the battle through God’s power.
- Be Strong and Courageous – in Zechariah 4:6 and Joshua 1:5-6, God continues to tell His people to be strong and courageous, to not fear because it’s not by our strength or might but by God’s power we can do all things.
- Be Willing to Sacrifice – when we are put to the test, we will have to choose between God’s will and our desires; in Judge 7:5, those who didn’t kneel down might not be able to drink as much water as those who did, but their sacrifices brought God’s attention, and became the chosen 300.
- Be Vigilant – in Matthew 26:41, Jesus reminded us to “watch and pray”, because temptations are always around us, and our flesh is weak, but through God all things are possible; just as how God delivered His people through only 300 men!
Today God is putting us to a test, which will wake us up to recognise the current situations of our lives. Do we stay in the failures and see the impossibilities of our lives? Or can we be strong and courageous, be willing to sacrifice for God, and be vigilant to stay in God’s presence? In God, when less is more. So let us enter into God’s victory and be the chosen 300 warriors!
