Rely on God in the Storm of Life

Sunday, 12th February 2023

Pastor Liu Tong

When we face problems and hardship that are bigger than us, it’s easy for us to think that God has forgotten about us and left us. But Isaiah 49:15 says, “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!”

Give Our Worries to God

Our God is Jehovah Jireh, He is the God who provides, He is watches over us and He cares for us. He has already seen our way out, we can give all our worries to Him, because He loves us. Let us give all our worries to Him, wait and see how He can lead us through the hardship and challenges in life.

Look Upon God in prayer

God told us to wait upon Him but He didn’t tell us to do nothing. In Ephesians 6:18, Paul taught us to always pray in the Holy Spirit. Often we don’t know how to pray, we are weak but only the Holy Spirit can help us to pray to God. Through the Holy Spirit, we will then know God’s heart in us and what He will do in our lives.

The Holy Spirit will pray with us and will pray for us. We can learn to quiet down ourselves, listen to the Holy Spirit. We are so used to pouring out our problems to God, we complain and we talk about what we want. But we hardly listen. Let us give Holy Spirit the room to talk, to tell us what God wants to tell us and work within us.

Do we know what God wants to talk to us? When we face the storm of life, we need the wisdom from God, so we know where to go and what to do. This year we will experience breakthrough, so let us learn to listen to Him. We also need to pray always, we don’t need to wait until the perfect time in the perfect place. Anywhere can be our alter, anytime can be the time to pray. Then God will give us great peace and take away our worries.

Furthermore we must pray with all our hearts. When we pour out our hearts to Him, to be truth to Him, God will hear us, He will have mercy on us, and He will answer us. When we are facing storm in our lives, do we really know God can make a way? If we do, then we will cry out to Him with all our might. Last but not least, we must not give up. A lot of time it’s not because God didn’t hear us, it’s because we give up too early.

God is always looking people who are willing to work with Him. He enjoys having this partnership with us, and He is looking for those who pray none stop, who stay awake and wait upon Him.

Rely on God with Firm Faith

There have been so many people relying on God and waiting upon Him in the storm. David, Elijah, even Jesus, they have been in distress and darkness, but they continues to rely on God with firm faith. We are not alone, we are not the only ones who feel weak and weary. God will lead us through the way we must run.

Hebrews 12:1-3 taught us that there had been many before us, we are not by ourselves. No matter how big our storm is, the saints have already given us many testimonies. Let us not give up, have this firm faith, and see the moment of victory before us. Jesus experienced death and life, He overcome His hardship. We can do the same today.
