But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. (Ephesians 5:15-18)
A person is made up of three parts: body, soul and mind. Our mind is either filled with the world or with the Holy Spirit.
Three NOTs：
- Do not be unwise
- Do not be foolish
- Do not get drunk on wine
Four BE/DOs:
- Be very careful
- Make the most of every opportunity
- Understand what the Lord’s Will is
- Be filled with the Spirit
A. Devil is the one behind this
“Making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:16)
“We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.” (John 5:19)
B. Ways to be victorious:To be filled with the Holy Spirit to defeat the enemy
Understand the Holy Spirit:
- One True God within the Trinity, God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (John 14:16)
- The Spirit of truth (John 16:13)
- The Spirit of power (Acts 1:8; Luke 4:1-2, 13;14)
Obey God’s command: be filled with the Spirit. Live a Spirit-filled life and bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23)
How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?
- Practice speaking in tongues
- Use your gifts
- Soak into the worship (receive to be filled with the Holy Spirit)
- Read the word of God
