Ps Robert Morris
God has the complete reign of sovereignty, but He gave the stewardship to men. In the beginning, God gave the open deed of the earth to Adam and Even but they lost it to Satan. Jesus, as the first born son, decided to exercise His rights and buy back the deed, He redeemed us and gave us back the authority.
When we say God has the sovereignty, it doesn’t mean that God can decide whatever is going to happen, and we just follow. The reason for us to pray is to reveal the sovereignty of God. We pray to the supreme Ruler of the universe.
People would say that God is never changing so why pray? The immutability of God means He never changes His character, but it doesn’t mean that He doesn’t change His mind. When Moses prayed on the mountain on behalf of the Israelites, then God relented, which means He changed His mind. This is another reason why we should pray, because God would change His mind when a believer pray.
In the Book of Jonah, the people of Nineveh repented and prayed, and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring to them. All Words from God are submitted to God. He just needs one man, one believer, to stand in the gap, and He will listen!
