1. Welcome the Work of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit can help us to reveal many things:
- Thing we know but others don’t know
- Things others know but we don’t know
- Thins we don’t know and others don’t know
‘And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?” But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of.”‘ (Luke 9:54-55)
We don’t know what we are doing and we need to welcome the Holy Spirit to help us to se the weakness and needs of our lives. He is our Comforter and Councilor, He is here to help us and guide us.
‘And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.’ (Romans 5:3-5)
Holy Spirit can also enlighten us and heal us. God wants to use His love to heal all our hurts and pains, and the Holy Spirit will do the work when we welcome Him into our lives.
2. Leave the Shadow of the Past
- Be honest to face our own weakness
- Choose to forgive
- Proclaim and break off the power of the darkness
We already have the victorious life in Jesus so if we are willing we can leave the shadow of our past. Who does not want to leave the shadow of the past? It’s just like when Jesus asked the paralyzed man lying by the Pool of Bethesda. He said to Jesus that there was no one to put him down in the pool. But a lot of times we are like this, we chose to live in the status quo, we do not like changes and we blame all our hurt on others. We will come up with all the excuses, but we will not admit that we are sinners. In order to leave the shadow of the past, we must first, be honest and face our own weaknesses.
The we need to choose to forgive. When we face hurtful experiences, we have the authority to choose to forgive. When we choose not to forgive, we are like drinking the poison and wishing other people will die. Jesus taught us to love our enemy and to forgive those who hurt us. Love is not a feeling, but an action to be obedient to God.
Stephan was prosecuted but he chose to forgive, and young Paul was there when it happened. We never know what kind of influence and impact we can bring out of forgiveness. ‘Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.’ (Acts 7:60)
Prayer is an action to show our obedience to God. When we pray, it means that we are willing to let go and let God. Put down our own mindset and old thinking, and let God do His Work. Then we must break off the Authority of the darkness. We can welcome the Holy Spirit and we can choose to forgive, but if we don’t proclaim the break off the the power of the darkness, then there will always be a loophole for devil to come and interfere with our lives. But when we proclaim, our words have power, and the devil will no longer able to come in and
3. Rid of the Negative Mindset
‘And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.’ (Romans 8:28)
‘We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed’ (II Corinthians 4:8-9) Paul was determined that no matter what situation he is in, he will not let anything come in the way for him to do the work of God. Our God is an Almighty God, when we believe, He will take us through the impossible breakthrough. But we must be determined to do the work of God. Do not be limited by our strength, our environment, our age, our backgrounds… nothing is impossible for God and He will make a way in impossible situations. No matter what the world says, Jesus is the answer to everything. No matter what the situation is, He can give us a way out.
4. Strive to Follow God in Life
We can’t just talk the talk but we have to walk the walk. Jesus never talks about later, His calling is always now! No matter easy or difficult, suitable or not suitable, it’s always now. We must follow God now, no matter the situation is. God wants us to live wholeheartedly now, not later, to testify for Him in our lives. If we don’t think God is more valuable than all the things of the world, then it is difficult for us to follow God.
‘But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.’ (Matthew 6:33) No matter what we do, we must do it wholeheartedly, in family, in church, at work, at school… be who we are at where we are and do everything as we are doing it for God. There will always be temptation and there will always be challenges, but only when we are determined in our current situation, to follow God, pandemic or not, we can experience God’s joy and power in our lives. God has a purpose in the pandemic, no matter what our situation is our mindset is, God will bring healing and restoration. Let us be courageous to leave the past and enter into future.
