Rev Daniel Poon
Time goes by quickly, it never stops to wait for us. Therefore we need to treasure every moment God has given to us. It says in Ephesians 5:15-17 that “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.”
In the Bible, there are good things and also bad things happened in people’s lives. We should not let good things run away from us, and we should learn from other people or ourselves’ past experiences to not to make the same mistakes. Rev Daniel shared with us three important things we should know about not letting the good things in our lives pass away.
1. Redeeming the Time
Redeem means to claim back. it says in Ephesians 5:16 that we should treasure the time. It is a fast-moving world so we need to catch up to the world. We should always seek opportunities to improve ourselves, learn new things, review past experiences and ask ourselves, has our time been KIDNAPPED by worldly desires? TIED by unnecessary events? Or WASTED by unplanned schedules?
2. Keeping the Opportunity
Throughout our lifetime, how many opportunities have we caught, and how many we have lost? God has given us the free will to choose, and it’s up to us to decide if we will hold onto the opportunities we are given or not. Rev Daniel reminded us to be DETERMINED in every opportunity from God (Philippians 2:13), TO DO GOOD whenever there is an opportunity (Galatians 6:10), and TO DO MINISTRY as following the big commitment from Jesus (John 9:4).
