The Walk of Faith

Sunday, 28th February 2016

Pastor Bruce McDonald

Today Pastor Bruce shared with us Roman 4:12, where Paul taught us about the faith of Abraham. “And he is then also the father of the circumcised who not only are circumcised but who also follow in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.”

A step of faith is the result of a decision. A walk is a series of steps. Therefore, a walk of faith is a series of decisions. We often say to God, if you do something then I will follow. But God is actually saying to us that, if you move then I will do something. Faith requires us to take a step of action. In Romans 4:19-21, it shows us four steps Abraham took that made him the Father of Faith.

  1. Do not look at yourself – Abraham did not look at his old age, when God told him he will have a son, at the age of 100, Abraham believed it
  2. Do not look at your circumstances – Abraham did not only look at his own limitation, he also did not look at the fact that his wife Sarah was 90 years old; no matter how impossible the situation might seen, all things are possible with God
  3. Do not doubt – Abraham did not doubt in God’s promise and believed completely that it will happen
  4. Give glory to God – the only thing Abraham did was always give glory to God

By faith and patience we will receive God’s inheritance, and Abraham certainly did! Pastor Bruce encouraged us to get up today, and take a step of faith. No matter how impossible it may seem, God called us to live by faith so let’s start the walk of faith withe the first step!
