This is God’s Family

Sunday, 16th June 2019

Rev Daniel Xi An Poon

In 2019, God gave our church the vision: Renew and Emerge, we need to know why we are here for, we are here for a purpose. God put us here in Bread of Life Christian Church in South Auckland because this is His family.

In family we will have issues, maybe it’s with our brothers and sisters, or maybe it’s with our parents. It’s normal to have issues in a family, but as a family we should work on our issues together. We should be able and willing to open up with each other without feeling ashamed. We should be able to feel safe when we share, be true to ourselves and to each other.

In a family we can learn from each other and grow together in God’s grace. Even though we might not know the past of each other, but when we come together as a family, we can be brothers and sisters, and create the future together.

Full of Faith

“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household.” (Ephesians 2:19)

We might be from different family, different cultural backgrounds, speak different mother tongues… but by faith, God calls us to come together as a family, We are no longer strangers or foreigners, but members of the house of God. In God’s family, it is full of faith,

We become a family because we have one God, and by faith we believe Jesus Christ is our Lord, and God is our Father in Heaven. Therefore by faith, everything is different, and this is the first and foremost thing we have as the family of God.

Full of Love

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” (I John 3:18)

In God’s family, there is full of love. A lot of time we said we will pray for others but how many times we actually pray for them? Our love should not be by words but by action. We offer what we have, serve one another with our skills and talents, we come together because it’s all about love. Love should be by action.

Full of Hope

“He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us.” (II Corinthians 1:10)

One thing we must remember is that God will deliver us, not only in the past, but also in the present and in the future. Even though we are baptized Christians and may have been in church for a long time, yet God will never leave us. He will continue to perform miracles in our lives. we have this hope in the family of God, we encourage each other, pray for each other and support each other. God prepared the eternal lives for us. We should seek things in the eternity.

This is God’s family, full of love, hope and faith. All we desire from this world can be fulfilled in God’s family, as long as we devote ourselves in His church. We not here for a religious gathering, we are here for a family.
