Rev Daniel Xi An Poon
John 14:1-6 says, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Jesus died and resurrected 2000 years ago, but what does His resurrection means to us today? We know the problems created by the pandemic and economic crisis have given us much worries and fears. We don’t know what will happen tomorrow, but today, God is telling us that He has so much blessings for us.
1. DO NOT WORRY
Jesus says in John 10:28, “And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” Jesus told us that when we believe in God, we should also believe in Him, and we will not need to worry. Jesus has given us the eternal life and no one can take us away from Jesus. There’s no other gods in the world can give us eternal life, a life that never dies. It’s such a wonderful promise, Jesus protects us and He will cover us to the end. Satan cannot take anything away from us.
In John 14:18, Jesus says, “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” Jesus loves us to the end, He will never leave us nor forsake us. A lot of time we want to seek God but we don’t have the strength to go on. Jesus will come and seek us, He will comfort us and protect us. Jesus can give us peace, when He was tempted in the wilderness by the devil, He had peace; when He was being prosecuted by the religious people, He had peace; when He was going on the cross, He still had peace.
What is true peace? It’s not when everything is going smoothly for us then we can have this peace. True peace is even when the things don’t go well, we can still trust in God. Can we see the cross in our difficulties? Can we see Jesus with us in troubles?
2. THE LORD WILL PREPARE
Jesus has prepared so much for us, before we know it and before we see it, He has already sorted everything out for us! We know there’s eternal life but we are afraid, we cannot believe it before we see it. Today Jesus reminds us again that He has prepared for us, when we leave this world, there’s a better world for us.
3. THE LORD IS THE WAY
Jesus is the Way, where we must pass through to go to the other side. No matter what ways we use to travel, we must go through the way, and Jesus is the Way for us to enter eternal life. Do not go astray, but always make sure we follow the Way of Jesus. The Bible will take us through this Way, because everything written in the Bible is the truth. Sometimes it may be difficult to receive the teaching, but it’s for our own good. Jesus’ rod and staff are for us to go back on the right track. He will protect us and lead us on this Way of Life.
