Rev Daniel Poon
This morning, Rev Daniel shared with us in Hebrews 10:35, “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.” A lot of time we have stumbling blocks in front of us that stop us coming to God and have confidence in Him.
1. Discouraged
Galatians 6:9 – Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
We often feel discouraged, from our family, our friends, our authorities… Jesus’ disciples also felt the discouragement when He was crucified. But in Galatians, we learn to not become weary and not to give up, because when God’s timing comes, we can reap a harvest.
2. Tired
Jeremiah 31:25 – I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.
Another stumbling block in front of us is feeling tired. We feel tired that everyday we doing the same things, and that things don’t go according our ways. Moses spent 40 years in Egypt, another 40 years in the Midian, and his last 40 years in the wilderness leading the Israelite. At the end Moses realized that only God can refresh him and satisfy his desires, leading him to his true destiny. We need to seek Kingdom living, and rest in God’s presence.
3. Fear
Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Fear comes and steals our hope away, and it becomes a stumbling block for us to continue experience God. People often give up because they worry and afraid. They fear of getting hurt or rejected, and they will choose to walk away from their blessings. But the truth is if we don’t deal with our fear, then we will always hold onto things only we believe is good and cannot let go.
Today Rev Daniel reminded us that God has a better and greater plan for us, we need to have confidence in Him and will be greatly rewarded.
