Who Am I?

Rev. Daniel Poon

It’s important for us to know who we are and what are our identities. The answer is in II Corinthians 5:27, which says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” When Jesus comes into our lives, we become a new person and there is nothing we cannot let go. This week, Rev. Daniel reminded us who we really are as new creations of God through Jesus Christ:

  • I am Valuable“Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’” (Genesis 1:26)
  • I am Lovable“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)
  • I am Accepted“All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.” (John 6:37)
  • I am Forgiven“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
  • I am Able – “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” (John 14:12)
  • I am Blessed – “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.” (Deuteronomy 28:1)
