Zero Anger

Zero Anger

Sunday, 30th April 2023

Pastor Kong (Guest Speaker)

Ephesians 3:17-19 says, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

God loves us so much and so deep that nothing on this world can compare it. When we sing praises to Him, do we really see how powerful His love is? God will never forget us and never forsake us. His love for us does not ask anything for return, so we believe in this love and are we willing to be transformed by this love?

The the beatitude, Jesus taught us what love is, first it’s about zero anger, about being completely holy, about being completely honest, and about being completely forgiving. Zero anger is very difficult to do, and we can never give ourselves any excuses for being angry.

Mathew 5:22 tells us not to be angry. The more we stop being angry, the more we will experience the love of God. By the grace of God, we can have zero anger. In Revelation 2:4, Jesus talked to John about the church of Ephesians. It was a great church, the centre of the gospel, and a church with influence. But Jesus said they have departed from their first love. Paul says in Ephesians 1 that it was a church begin with love, but after many years, Jesus told John that the church had forgotten how to love.

When we face troubles, challenges, when we feel tired, when we feel discouraged… slowly our love will disappear, we will lose unity, we will no longer love one another, we will become mechanical. There will be no trust between people, and just like what Jesus said, the church without love will lose its light and its influence. God is love and when love is no longer important to us, then we will also lose faith and power. Power is from love and with love we can have faith.

God loves us and that’s why He gave us the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Day. It was to reveal God’s love, so we can love Him wholeheartedly and to love one another. When we love, we will not have anger for others, when we love, we will not gossip about one another, and when we love, we will not hold grudges for each other. When we focus more on the love of God and the power of love, then we can express it more freely.

Faith is activated by love, so we must practice zero anger, and zero gossip, focus more on the fruits of the Holy Spirit, which comes from love, then gradually we will become more and more easy to experience the love of God and the love of others.
